MOVING RIGHT ALONG: The new Toto album, “The Seventh One,” is due next week--which means that yes, Virgina, it’s No. 7 for the devoted studio hounds. The record’s first single is titled “Pamela,” which is (by our unofficial count) at least the fourth song the group has named after a woman--previous ones being the new album’s “Anna,” 1985’s “Holyanna” and the 1982 hit “Rosanna.” Lead singer Joseph Williams explained very jokingly: “She’s the latest in a long line of women who’ve slapped us with paternity suits.” . . . And Ronnie Mack’s honky-tonk celebration continues Tuesday at the Little Nashville Club in North Hollywood with George Highfill, Katie Moffatt and James Intveld all performing for free--and broadcast live from 9 to 11 p.m. on KCSN-FM. . . . The Unforgiven isn’t the only local band cut loose from the Elektra Records stable. The label has recently dropped the Pandoras and Jet Boy (leaving glam-brats Faster Pussycat as the only local boys still making good there). But we hear Atlantic Records is very close to signing the Unforgiven, who’ve been honing their act on the road during the past year. . . . If you’re going to see Sam Shepard’s play, “A Lie of the Mind,” keep an ear peeled for the music, which features a host of traditional blues and folk tunes, plus original melodies and lyrics by Peter Case and Victoria Williams (including “Rise and Shine,” a new Case song).
