‘Initiative Foes Dispute Poll’

Share

Let’s look at growth in Orange County as if we all had a stake in tomorrow.

One way or another, our children are going to pay for the countless ills unwise development has brought. There’s still time, however, to move into the next century with style. We must work together--now--to control growth and traffic.

We won’t accomplish anything creative or productive if we accept Supervisor Don R. Roth’s invitation to re-fight the Battle of the Bulge. The battle Roth speaks of is a war with his own constituents. Elected officials and business people should not see sensible growth and traffic control as something to fight. These are major problems we must all solve together.

It will take much of the next generation’s energy just to control and clean up our mess. Builders are smart enough to see that the old way is over. We’re almost out of open land. Let’s work together to find ways to preserve open space and recreation land, to develop affordable housing, to create jobs, to control traffic and to improve the quality of life. Nuts to those of limited vision who would surrender our future to past mistakes.
