Local News in Brief : Panel Rejects Hotel Plan

Share

The Torrance Planning Commission has rejected a proposed 5-story hotel project near the Torrance Municipal Airport because of concerns about traffic and incompatibility with the surrounding residential neighborhood.

After extensive discussion, the commission voted 6 to 1 Wednesday night to deny approval of the proposed 134-room Hampton Inn hotel at 238th Street and Los Codona Avenue, just west of Hawthorne Boulevard.

The Planning Commission’s decision may be appealed to the City Council, although council members last month expressed reservations about the traffic impacts and height of the building.
