From the deja vu files: Washington’s CBS affiliate, WUSA-TV, mistakenly began its “Face The Nation” broadcast Sunday with last week’s preview of the New Hampshire primary. Commentator Lesley Stahl started the show with “Welcome to ‘Face The Nation,’ this is Lesley Stahl in New Hampshire,” and spoke of what would happen in last Tuesday’s primary. The error was not detected until more than five minutes into the show. The tape was abruptly cut, and the show picked up with Stahl in mid-sentence asking Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin about Israeli forces being out of control in the West Bank. A station spokesman said as soon as engineers realized they were mistakenly running last week’s show, they switched to a tape containing the correct broadcast.
