A shot fired from an army watchtower in Northern Ireland near the Irish border killed Aidan McAnespie, 23, as he was walking to a soccer game in County Tyrone. The Royal Ulster Constabulary said it “deeply regrets” the shooting near the town of Aughnacloy. It said a soldier at a vehicle checkpoint at the watchtower was taken into custody and the shooting was under investigation. In Dungannon, Northern Ireland, a policeman was seriously wounded Saturday by a grenade hurled at the victim’s vehicle during a riot in the town. The outlawed Irish Republican Army was blamed for the attack.
