Henning Won’t Be New Raider Coach
Washington Redskin assistant coach Dan Henning is out of the running for the Raider coaching job after talks with Raider boss Al Davis broke down.
“We were close, but we could not get together. We don’t agree on some critical areas,” Henning said in an interview published in Sunday’s editions of The Atlanta Journal and Constitution.
“Al is looking for something different in a head coach, and I’m looking for something different in a head-coaching position.”
The Raiders are searching for a replacement for Tom Flores, who resigned last month.
He said he never received a firm contract offer from Davis because “we realized our differences.”
