Aman who robbed a North Hollywood savings and loan Monday left behind what appeared to be two grenades, resulting in the quick evacuation of the facility, police said.

When the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad arrived on the scene, however, it determined the grenades were fake, police said.

Police said Fidelity Federal Savings in the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard was robbed shortly before 5 p.m. by a man who showed a teller a note that said he had a bomb and wanted money.
