A Taiwanese man tried to hijack a China Airlines domestic flight with 114 people aboard and divert it to Beijing, but he was overpowered by crew members, the airline reported. No injuries were reported aboard the Boeing 737 jetliner, which was en route from Taipei to Kaohsiung, a southern port city 240 miles away. Officials said the passengers included one American. The hijacker, identified as Chien Chu-yuan, 29, told reporters that he wanted to see the “reunification of China” and planned the hijacking for more than a month.
