A jury found Laventhol & Horwath, the ninth-largest public accounting firm in the United States, liable for violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. The jury in U.S. District Court in Sacramento found that approximately 2,850 investors had been duped by the San Francisco firm into investing more than $20 million in “super cow” breeding programs, which were purported to be tax-sheltered limited partnerships.
