RAISES FOR CITY DEPARTMENT HEADS

Department of Water and Power General Manager Paul Lane, Department of Airports Executive Director Clifton Moore and Police Chief Daryl F. Gates remain the three highest-paid city employees under merit pay increases approved Wednesday by the Los Angeles City Council for city general managers. The range of raises, which are retroactive to last July 1, could have been from zero to as high as the council wished to make them. The highest salaries are listed first.
