Waldheim’s Nazi Past

Share

So Waldheim purportedly looked the other way when the Nazis were committing their atrocities during the war.

Well, Uncle Kurt was hardly alone in his misdeeds. One could argue without much fear of rebuttal that the entire German populace was, to one degree or another, equally culpable as far as wartime atrocities are concerned.

But let’s look at the flip side of the coin. Where was all the hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth when a certain former United States President vowed never to send American boys “10,000 miles away to fight a war in Asia” or words to that effect and then went ahead and did precisely that, i.e., sending over 500,000 of America’s best and brightest to Southeast Asia. Was President Lyndon B. Johnson ever accused of “crimes against humanity”?

Or how about a certain former secretary of state who won a certain Nobel Peace Prize while selling out our vaunted Vietnamese allies faster than he could sign the Paris Peace Accords.

Or how about his boss, who secretly schemed with this anonymous ex-secretary of state to bomb Cambodia forward into the Stone Age at a time when that country was professing its neutrality for all to see.

How come nobody ever says anything about their crimes?
