Local News in Brief : Fullerton : YWCA Teen Program Receives $12,500 Grant
The California Community Foundation has awarded a $12,500 grant to the YWCA of North Orange County for its Teen Advocacy Program by Peers. The foundation is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization based in Los Angeles and Orange.
The Teen Advocacy Program by Peers, administered by the Youth Services Department of the YWCA, trains teen-agers to teach their peers skills designed to build self-esteem and self-confidence.
Teen Advocacy is involved in such issues as teen pregnancy, substance abuse, school dropout and teen suicide.
