In Tavares, Fla., former Atlanta Hawks guard Eddie Johnson pleaded guilty to possession and sale of crack cocaine and was sentenced to an 18-month suspended prison term.
Johnson, 33, also was placed on probation for four years and was ordered to perform 250 hours of community service, during which he must lecture high school students in Lake County on the dangers of drugs.
He was represented by a public defender because he could not afford an attorney.
Johnson has been held in the Lake County Jail on $40,000 bail since his arrest Nov. 5. The charges against him included the sale of $20 worth of cocaine to an undercover officer in July.
