A 35-year-old man was in stable condition Monday after being stabbed once in the abdomen during a fight with an acquaintance who thought the victim had taken his wallet, police said.

Charles Gibbs, 35, of Buena Park was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Humana Hospital--West Anaheim, a hospital spokeswoman said.

John Douglas Terrell, 21, of Anaheim, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing Sunday night of Gibbs at the Pioneer Motel in Buena Park, said Rich McMillen, spokesman for the Buena Park Police Department.

“As much as we can piece together, Terrell thought Gibbs had something to do with his missing wallet,” McMillen said. “He had his wallet stolen or lost earlier in the day.”
