Except for some gusty winds, the Southland can expect typical March weather this weekend: occasional clouds, lots of sunshine and a return of smog.

“Things look pretty uneventful. No rain, mostly sunshine and warm temperatures,” said Dan Bowman of WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times.

Bowman said three fast-moving storms will hit Oregon and Washington and parts of Northern California this weekend. But the bad weather should extend only as far south as San Francisco, leaving Southern California with a few high clouds and occasional winds gusting from 15 to 25 m.p.h.

“Along the coast you might see some large swells. It won’t toss any boats on the beaches, but it will be enough to cause small craft advisories for Friday and into Friday night,” Bowman said.

Low clouds and fog will sit along the coast but burn off by mid-morning, Bowman said. Smoggy air is expected for the San Gabriel Valley and east into San Bernardino County.

Upper 60s at Beach

Temperatures should reach the upper 60s in beach communities and the upper 70s farther inland. Overnight lows will be near 50.

The high Thursday at the Los Angeles Civic Center was 69 after an overnight low of 51. The maximum humidity was 97% and the minimum 63%. Rainfall for the season to date stands at 9.07 inches, compared to a normal of 11.34 inches.
