In response to “Lanai: From Plantation to Playground” (Part I, Feb. 25):

The island of Lanai has been the place for anyone willing to go a little farther to find the ultimate Hawaii. If you were willing to stay in a perfectly fine but non-glitzy little hotel, and to rent a Jeep, you’d have been rewarded by stunning natural beauty and breathtaking coastlines--all enjoyed in the utter absence of that tacky mass tourism that so pervades the other Hawaiian islands.

That this lovely virgin had no strong advocates and is now being carved up by the sadly inappropriate development schemes of one megalomaniac Los Angeles billionaire is a damnable shame!
