Mobil Corp. said it expects to get another $500 million from asset sales in 1988 in addition to the $1.5 billion in cash it will receive from its deal to sell Montgomery Ward. Mobil President Richard F. Tucker told securities analysts that the additional money will come from the sale of “dribs and drabs” in the company. Mobil agreed to sell Montgomery Ward to the Chicago-based retailer’s management this week for about $3.8 billion. The buyers will assume $2.3 billion of Montgomery Ward debt.
