Andy Gibb Died of Heart Condition--Coroner’s Office

Pop singer Andy Gibb died naturally of a heart condition, a coroner’s office said today after Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb angrily denied reports that his brother’s death was related to drug abuse despite a past history of cocaine addiction.

Constable Michael Harvey of the Oxford coroner’s office said that since an autopsy showed that the cause of death was natural, no inquest will be conducted.

Gibb, 30, died Thursday in an Oxford hospital after complaining of stomach pains. The singer had followed his brothers, who formed the Bee Gees rock group, to stardom in the late 1970s.

“There was no question of Andy using drugs. I don’t know where that story came from, but there is absolutely no truth in it. He was not using cocaine again,” Robin Gibb told reporters at Heathrow Airport. British tabloids had said drug abuse may have caused the death.
