Socker Players, Bosses Meet

Share

The Sockers met Friday with chairman of the board Ron Fowler, President Ron Cady and Coach Ron Newman to discuss the proposed salary cap reduction.

“It was a very positive meeting,” said Kevin Crow, Socker player representative. “The point was to make sure the players understood the seriousness of the problem. Now let’s get some things going, present ownership with some ideas. If both sides work together, there’s no reason something can’t get worked out.”

Player representatives from all 11 teams have scheduled a conference call for Monday. The league has said players must accept a salary-cap cut from $1.275 million to $898,000 by April 15 or the league will fold in June.
