Bentsen Says ‘No’ to Vice Presidency Idea

SAN ANTONIO — Sen. Lloyd Bentsen (D-Tex.), whose name has been mentioned as a potential running mate for leading Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Dukakis, said he does not want to be vice president.
“I think being chairman of the Senate Finance Committee is more fun,” Bentsen told the San Antonio Light in an interview published in Friday’s editions.
“I am not interested in being vice president,” he said.
