Coleco Industries reported a loss of $105.4 million for 1987, compared to a loss of $111.2 million for 1986. Sales for 1987 totaled $504.5 million, less than 1% above the 1986 figure. In the fourth quarter, a restructuring resulted in a 25% staff reduction and a 25% cut in manufacturing overhead and selling and administrative expenses. The West Hartford, Conn., toy maker said the results reflect the poor year experienced by the toy industry and restructuring costs.
