CBS has reclaimed the top spot in the news Nielsens as the glow of the Winter Olympics wears off ABC, according to Nielsen ratings released today. For the week ending March 11, the “CBS Evening News” had an average rating of 11.1 and a 21 share, its second win in a row. ABC’s “World News Tonight” had a 10.2 and a 19 share. “NBC Nightly News” had a 9.4 and 18 share.

After a lengthy reign at the top of the news ratings last summer, NBC analyst Garald Jaffe said, “We’re in the middle of a big investigation.” He said the network is awaiting more information from Nielsen on the February sweeps before deciding whether the slide is a result of Nielsen’s new people-meter sample or a real decline in viewership.
