The last day of winter made itself felt with a blast of cold arctic air across the north-central United States, plunging temperatures into the teens in northern Minnesota and Upper Michigan. A separate blast of Canadian air chilled southwest Texas, setting record lows there for this time of year. The cold front pushing through the Great Lakes spread snow across Michigan, the lower Great Lakes and the upper Ohio Valley. Heavy snow warnings were posted over parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania. Record lows were reported in three Texas cities: 38 degrees at Brownsville, 30 at Corpus Christi and 29 at Del Rio. Rain was scattered along the Atlantic Coast and into New England.
