Rodney Peete hit two home runs to lead USC to an 11-2 victory over California in a Pacific 10 Southern Division baseball game at Berkeley.

The Trojans hit five homers, including Bret Boone’s fifth, Brian Nichols’ second and Jim Campanis’ seventh. Peete’s homers were his third and fourth of the season.

USC improved to 7-3 in the conference and 23-6 overall. Cal fell to 8-3 and 22-8.

Randy Powers (8-1) pitched five innings for USC, allowing one run on eight hits. He had to leave the game after being hit in the knee by a line drive, but the injury was not considered serious.
