Man on Bail Seized in New Sexual Assault

A 49-year-old Sepulveda man was charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a woman the day after he posted bail and was released in an attempted sexual-assault case.

Lawrence David Gremminger pleaded not guilty in San Fernando Municipal Court to charges stemming from both incidents: one count each of forcible oral copulation, attempted rape and residential burglary; three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with intent to commit rape.

Gremminger had been arrested Friday by Los Angeles police on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Pamela Davis-Springer. He posted $10,000 bail and was released that day, she said.

The next afternoon, Gremminger forced his way into the home of a Santa Clarita woman and sexually assaulted her, Davis-Springer said. He then threatened a neighbor who had heard screams and came to the woman’s aid, the prosecutor said.

The neighbor chased Gremminger, who fled on a motorcycle, to the intersection of Balboa Boulevard and Orozco Street in Granada Hills, where police joined the pursuit, the prosecutor said.

Gremminger has been held without bail in County Jail since Saturday.
