Local News in Brief : Meeting to Be Held on Plan to Sell Horse Stalls

Share

Acontroversial proposal to put rental stalls up for sale at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center will be the topic of a public meeting Friday at 4 p.m. at the Griffith Park Ranger Station, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive.

A number of horse boarders are protesting the proposal, saying it will force them out of the center.

About 300 horse stalls, which are rented, would be sold for $24,000 cash or for $30,000 if paid over 10 years.

People boarding their horses at the financially troubled center are also upset by plans to build a medieval-theme restaurant on the premises, which would allow diners to watch jousting matches and horse shows. The jousting matches would take place on the restaurant’s grounds.

Los Angeles city officials are holding the meeting on the proposal, scheduled to be considered by the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Commission next week.
