Motorola Inc.’s electronics group has agreed to pay the government $16.7 million and to plead guilty to a criminal information accusing it of mischarging for labor and materials on Navy satellite and missile contracts, the Justice Department announced. The pleas result from an investigation into labor and materials charging and pricing practices by Motorola’s Government Electronics Group in Scottsdale, Ariz., from 1979 to 1984. Motorola, one of the nation’s top 50 defense contractors, agreed to plead guilty to three counts of making false statements.
