Downtown Area to Get Its First New Supermarket
- Share via
By late 1989 or early 1990, downtown Los Angeles will have its first major supermarket--a 36,000-square-foot Boys Market at Sunset Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
Highland Park-based Boys Markets Inc., which has agreed to a buyout by a Mexican company, will lease the space for 20 years for a total consideration in excess of $5 million, according to Brad and Jeff Luster of Major Properties, Los Angeles. Major Properties represented both Boys Markets and Lowy Development Corp., Los Angeles, in the transaction.
Lowy is the developer of Grand Plaza, a mixed-use project at Sunset and Grand that will include, in addition to the market, a 250-unit apartment building, a senior citizen retirement hotel and an additional 15,000 square feet of retail space.
