Brahms and Berlioz will be played in concert halls, but the European Community Youth Orchestra has also been asked, during its first U.S. tour, to belt out the American and Canadian national anthems at a baseball game between the Atlanta Braves and the Montreal Expos today. The orchestra’s brass ensemble is scheduled to play at an exhibition game in Palm Beach, Fla. The orchestra’s 140 musicians, aged 14 to 23, come from all 12 nations of the European Community: Britain, France, West Germany, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal and Greece. The tour marks the orchestra’s 10th anniversary.
