Charles Dedicates ‘Carbuncle’

LONDON —
Britain’s Prince Charles unveiled the foundation stone today for a National Gallery extension he once called a “monstrous carbuncle on the face of a well-loved friend.”
The prince and the gallery’s trustees unanimously approved plans for the new wing by leading American post-modernist architect Robert Venturi, who was called in after the prince expressed his displeasure with earlier plans.
