Sportsman’s Park race track in Chicago lost at least $52,000 when it paid off the wrong order of finish in a thoroughbred horse race, track officials said.
The winner was announced as No. 3 Libretto Ledger, followed by No. 6 Darling Funnyface and No. 7 Grey Wing Pointe. Payoff windows were open for about 15 minutes before the judges got an enlarged photo of the finish and ruled that Grey Wing Pointe had finished a nose ahead of Darling Funnyface for second.
