Avery International Corp. reported a 34% increase in income to $17.4 million for its first quarter ended Feb. 29, compared to $13 million in the year-ago period. The Pasadena-based maker of tapes, office products and specialty chemicals cited a previously announced restructuring and the performance of its materials and specialty tape businesses in the United States and Europe as significant factors in the improved results.
