METZ, France —
A French air force Mirage 3E jet fighter with “technical difficulties” crashed into a field in eastern France on Friday, but the pilot ejected safely, air force officials said. It was the third crash of a military jet in Europe this week.
The jet plowed into a field near Bar-le-Duc in Meuse province about 120 miles east of Paris.
On Thursday, a U.S. Air Force jet fighter crashed in a residential neighborhood in West Germany, killing the pilot and a civilian on the ground.
