RELIGION : Committee Told to Use ‘Restraint’ on News Probe

NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
The Southern Baptist executive committee has declined to make a sweeping investigation of its Baptist Press news service, but a subcommittee has advised it to exercise “Christian restraint.”
The news service has come under increasing pressures as a fundamentalist wing gained control of denominational operations.
