Is Alcoholism a Disease?

I am a recovering alcoholic, God willing and with the help of the AA program, I will have eight years of continued sobriety May 20 of this year. During my sobriety, I have met many men and women who have unsuccessfully tried what Fingarette has suggested, moderated drinking for the alcoholic. Many are not with us today because of the view Fingarette is broadcasting.
I don’t understand his opposition to the hospital making a profit. Is he selling his book at cost or giving the profits for better ways to help the alcoholic?
