Six Times Staffers Win APSE Honors

Six Times staff members were among award recipients in the 1987 Associated Press Sports Editors writing contest announced Monday.
Competing in the category for newspapers of more than 175,000 circulation, awards went to Mark Heisler, second place, best feature story; Jim Murray, tie for fifth, column writing; sports editor Bill Dwyre, honorable mention, best news story, and Chris Dufresne, honorable mention, best feature story.
Also, Gordon Edes and James Granelli tied for fifth in best investigative reporting, all circulations.
First-place winners in the 50,000-175,000 circulation category included Rick Talley, Los Angeles Daily News, best column writing, and Eric Noland and Mark Barnhill, Daily News, best news story.
