Arthur N. Chester has been named director of Hughes Research Laboratories and was elected a corporate vice president of Hughes Aircraft Co., Malibu. He succeeds Dr. Eugene I. Gordon. Chester, who also becomes a member of the Hughes policy board, was previously a group vice president in Hughes’ Electro-Optical & Data Systems Group and manager of the space and strategic systems division. Hughes Aircraft is a subsidiary of GM Hughes Electronics.
