Violent Storm Lashes Chicago

CHICAGO —
A violent spring storm lashed Chicago with winds up to 60 m.p.h. overnight, knocking out power to about 50,000 residents and dumping more than 2 inches of rain in some areas of northern Illinois.
Temperatures plummeted about 40 degrees as the storm developed, falling from a record 85 degrees Tuesday afternoon to an overnight low of 44.
