Del Mar Beaches

Share

Robert S. Strauss, former Democratic National Committee chairman, is the owner of a Del Mar beachfront property wall, which protrudes way beyond the 5-foot shoreline protection line. He says, “I’m a pretty good lawyer, and I can assure you that this is going to be in the courts for the next 10 years.” (“Proposition D Called Bane, Boost in Fight for Del Mar Beaches,” March 28)

Here is a man who “heads one of the most influential and politically well-connected law firms in Washington” threatening the voters if they favor Proposition D. The man’s arrogance astounds me. Such a powerful man must feel that his wealth entitles him to deprive all others of their full access to the beach. If he is as good a lawyer as he contends, he should have obtained the proper variance to build the wall in the first place.
