Cal State Financial Assistance Offered to Real Estate Students

An April 29 application deadline has been set for $20,000 in scholarships and internships administered by the California State University--Real Estate & Land Use Institute.

The program is targeted at minority and disadvantaged students attending any of the 19 California State University campuses. The students must be enrolled in a real estate program or must be majoring in a program that is oriented toward a career in the industry.

Awards for the current semester are expected to range from $350 to $1,000, and will be distributed by May 15. The grants may be renewed.

The $20,000 being distributed this semester by the Institute is part of a $430,000 endowment established through a measure authored by Assemblywoman Teresa Hughes (D-Los Angeles). The rest of the money may be used to make grants or provide paid internships in later years.

The Real Estate & Land Institute is the CSU system’s research and professional education center for real estate. Its purpose is to promote and advance knowledge, research and education relating to land use and real estate.
