The hijackers of a Kuwait Airways jumbo jet ordered bread, cakes and Pepsi-Cola for dinner here Monday and settled in for another night aboard.

“We want 100 pieces bread, 100 pieces Pepsi-Cola,” the hijackers radioed to the control tower at Larnaca airport in southwest Cyprus.

Then the hijackers reduced their demand to 50 Pepsis and added that they also wanted 50 cakes.

The control tower responded by asking if they would also care for something more nourishing, such as cheese. “No,” came the answer. “No cheese.”

It was only the third meal ordered by the hijackers since they touched down at Larnaca Airport on Friday night. Since then, the terrorists have killed two of their hostages.

Shortly before they tossed the body of a Kuwaiti security guard out onto the tarmac Saturday, they ordered the airport to warm up breakfast, “so the passengers can have a good meal.”

The next meal was not until Sunday night, when they ordered 60 portions of cakes and cheese, according to a Cyprus Airways ground services employee.

A little while later, the hijackers asked for some “Maalox suspension” for one of the passengers who was said to be suffering from an ulcer. The tower asked the hijackers if they would consider releasing the ailing passenger, but the answer came back: “Negative.”
