A substantial majority of San Francisco voters will reject the use of Alcatraz Island for a casino site, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Proposition N, an advisory measure on the June 7 ballot, was opposed by a margin of 57% to 35%, a poll by the paper found. “I hate to sound so Californian, but it’s just not good karma,” said Kathleen Kelly, 30. Proponents say a casino on the site of the former federal prison could generate millions of dollars for the debt-plagued city.
