Lazers Play Second-Place Comets Tonight

The Lazers, who ended the Kansas City Comets’ 6-game winning streak with an 8-5 victory Sunday at Kansas City, Mo., can move into second place in the Western Division of the Major Indoor Soccer League tonight by beating the Comets at the Forum. Kickoff is at 7:30.

The game marks the final regular-season meeting of the teams--they split the first six games--but they will meet again in the first round of the playoffs later this month. The second-place finisher will have the home-field advantage for the best-of-5 series.

The Lazers (29-25) trail the Comets by half a game with two games remaining. The Comets (29-24) have three games left. Should the teams finish the season in a tie for second, the winner of tonight’s game will open the playoffs at its home arena, having won more games in direct competition.
