Convicted murderer Leslie Lowenfield met with Louisiana State basketball Coach Dale Brown in a surprise visit hours before the inmate went to his death in the electric chair at Angola, La.

Lowenfield was convicted of gunning down his estranged girlfriend, Sheila Thomas, and four members of her family, in 1982.

“Regardless if he’s guilty or not guilty, I imagined the fear he must be experiencing,” said Brown, who met Lowenfield when he took members of his team to the prison for a visit in 1984. “(But) I saw no fear. I saw no bitterness. I never saw it in any letters, either.”
