An Afghan guerrilla group said it captured a Communist army garrison in eastern Afghanistan, killing 20 enemy soldiers and capturing 50 others. The Islamic Party, led by guerrilla chieftain Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, issued a statement in Islamabad, Pakistan, quoting a report from rebels in the area claiming that the Darwazgai garrison in Zabul province fell after several days of fighting. It also said that 10 rebels died and 18 were wounded. The report comes only days after the signing in Geneva of a U.N.-mediated accord that calls for the withdrawal of the estimated 150,000 Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The guerrillas, however, have said they will continue fighting until the Communist regime in Kabul is toppled.
