Amdahl Corp.’s income rose 71% to $43.1 million in its first quarter, compared to $25.2 million in the like period a year ago. Revenue increased to $367.6 million from $318.5 million in the first quarter of 1987. The Sunnyvale, Calif., firm attributed the gains to strong customer demand for the company’s central processors and storage subsystems.
