Archive Corp., a Costa Mesa-based manufacturer of tape drive file management systems, said net income rose 83% for the second quarter of fiscal 1988, to $2.2 million from $1.2 million a year ago. Sales for the period ended March 25 increased 37% to $27.9 million from $20.3 million in the previous-year quarter. For the six-month period, earnings more than doubled from a year ago, to $4.5 million from $1.8 million. Revenue increased to $54.4 million, 38% more than the $39.3 million reported for the first half of the previous year.
