Duarte : Park-Ride Service Canceled
Despite heavy promotion of the city’s Park and Ride service to the El Monte RTD bus depot, the program has been canceled after six months because of lack of ridership.
Don Pruyn, community services director, said there were only about three riders a day.
Buses left Duarte three times in the morning and returned from El Monte three times in the evening. The fare was 50 cents each way. Pruyn said that in January, when commuters got a free ride in an effort to promote the program, ridership did not increase.
