The Pentagon has lifted its monthlong suspension prohibiting EIP Microwave from bidding on government contracts. The action comes one week after the Newport Beach firm settled a federal lawsuit accusing it of illegal overseas sales of high-technology equipment. On April 13, the Justice Department dropped three felony counts against the manufacturer of microwave test and measurement equipment. EIP agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making false statements to the U.S Treasury Department, to pay a $1,000 fine and $28,000 in government costs. EIP, which relies on government contracts for about 20% of its sales, denied any criminal wrongdoing. According to an EIP statement Thursday, the Pentagon’s Defense Logistics Agency agreed to lift the suspension after “extensive discussions with the company.”
