Selecting the Presidential Candidates

Share

I first heard it way back when I cast my ballot for Norman Thomas as he was entering national politics. It was repeated to me each subsequent time that he ran. We are now hearing it again in reference to Jackson. There are those who concede that he is addressing himself to the fundamental problems which face this nation more than any other candidate. Still they ask, “Why waste your vote on someone who can’t be elected?”

I learned the answer way back then. “I’d rather vote for what I truly want and not get it than to vote for what I don’t want and get lots of it.” And I still would.
